Dear all sequoia Union School District Board Members,
I'm writing as a deeply concerned parent to urgently and sincerely ask that you reconsider any plans to close TIDE High School. Even though my daughter has already graduated, the impact this school had on her life was profound, and I cannot stand by silently while it faces closure.
My daughter is now a freshman at UC Berkeley, and she would have never reached such an incredible university had it not been for the education and nurturing environment she received at TIDE The teachers, support system, and community there shaped her into the student she is today, and I am forever grateful for the foundation that school gave her. It is heartbreaking to imagine that future students might be denied that same opportunity.
This school was not just a building for her, it was her community, her stability, and the place where she felt supported during some of the most crucial years of her life. The idea of shutting it down will not only disrupt students academically but could also cause significant emotional and social upheaval.
I fully understand that difficult decisions sometimes must be made, but I am begging you to explore every alternative before taking this step. Whether it's restructuring, additional funding options, community partnerships, or phased changes, I know our community would rally, volunteer, fundraise, and do whatever it takes to keep this vital school open.
Please, I urge you to consider the human impact, the long-term consequences, and the life-changing opportunities this school has provided and can continue to provide. Future students deserve the same chance my daughter had.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering the voices of families who owe so much to this school. I genuinely appreciate your leadership and your willingness to listen.
With sincere respect and urgency,
