Dear SUHSD Board of Education,
My name is and I am a 9th grader at TIDE Academy. I chose to attend TIDE
because my parents were supportive of the school. Another reason I came here was that I was
interested in the dual-enrollment system. I believe that TIDE should remain open because its
staff and students have been kind to me. I have noticed this for all of the time that I have been
here. Also, the CTE pathway system and the dual-enrollment system are academically
beneficial to me, so I would be sad if I had to leave for another school.
It is important for TIDE to remain as an option for students in this district because there are
so many other students that share my opinions that the school should stay open. If TIDE were
to close, so many students would be displaced. It would also affect parents and teachers. My
parents care about the school, and they were frustrated when they heard the news that TIDE
might be closed. It would also be a big struggle for students to academically adjust to a new
school.
I would like to reiterate that TIDE should remain open. I have enjoyed the time I’ve spent
here, and I enjoy that this school provides useful programs. I urge the SUHSD Board to think
of how incredibly difficult the idea of hearing TIDE close will be on all past, current, and
future TIDE students.
