Dear SUHSD Board members,
On behalf of my family and so many members of our community, we ask that you do everything possible to keep TIDE Academy open.
Our daughter, [REDACTED], was a member of the second graduating class in 2024. We can't tell you what a valuable experience she had at TIDE. As a student with learning differences, she had previously attended only specialized schools. We chose to apply to TIDE, her first public school, because of its small size, its focus on STEM, and it's excellent support staff to help students overcome learning challenges. It was the best decision we could have made. Not only did [REDACTED] thrive there academically, she formed close relationships with teachers, counselors, administrators, and her classmates. As a senior, she was accepted early decision to Santa Clara University's School of Engineering. We do not believe she would have had the same academic success and personal growth at SUHSD's much larger schools.
We also believe in TIDE's mission to offer an excellent STEM education to students from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. This is especially important in Silicon Valley, which includes children from the most advantaged communities in the country - as well as the most vulnerable populations. Offering equitable education must continue to be a top priority for SUHSD.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
[REDACTED]
