Dear SUHSD Board of Education
My name is [REDACTED] and I am a 10th grader at TIDE Academy. I chose to attend TIDE because it had the best support for me and my education. Another reason I came to TIDE was because of the community that aims to learn here. I believe that TIDE should remain open because TIDE has one of the higher graduation rates compared to places like MA, Woodside, and Sequoia. Another reason is a little personal because it involves the support TIDE offers to kids who are struggling and you really can't get this kind of support at bigger schools. TIDE has offered an abundance of ways to help support students. From what I see [REDACTED], I feel TIDE does the best at helping kids pass due to the small class size allowing people with ADHD, Autism, or just anything neurodivergent to prosper and get the individual help they need and deserve. I also feel that the community is very accepting of TIDE, there is little to no hate at the school and a lot of groups seem to not be judged by how they look or how they identify. As someone who's seen what they say in other schools and how slurs are thrown around like casual words I believe TIDE is a much safer environment for everyone. I would like to reiterate that TIDE should remain open because it offers so many opportunities for people who don't get them to graduate and prosper, before TIDE I was a terrible student and even freshman year I didn't do so well, but I am making huge improvements and I urge the SUHSD Board to think of how incredibly difficult the idea of seeing TIDE close will be on all past, current, and future TIDE students and how this can affect all of our lives.
Sincerely,
[REDACTED]
