NOVEMBER 14, 2025
Dear TIDE Families and Students-
Next week, on November 19th, TIDE will have our WASC midterm virtual visit. What is WASC, you may ask? WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC accreditation assures stakeholders that a school is a trustworthy institution with a viable educational program and helps schools continuously improve their programs to support student achievement. It demonstrates that our school meets certain standards of quality — such as having strong teaching, effective programs, and a positive learning environment.
TIDE received its full 6-year WASC accreditation in 2023, and this midterm visit serves as a check-in on our goals. Please know, the current Board direction to explore closing TIDE has no bearing on our accreditation. We are excited to showcase our programs and initiatives, as well as the work we have been doing to achieve continuous school improvement. We are proud of student outcomes and work to improve academic performance targets for all TIDE students. You can view our mid-term report here. For fun, check out the video tour Mr. McKeon and TASC put together for the visiting chairperson.
Next steps for TIDE
As news unfolded this week that the SUHSD Board has asked our Superintendent to explore a process for potentially closing TIDE, we are heartened and amazed by the commitment of our TIDE students, staff, and parents. Thank you to our collective community for your belief and trust in us.
As a reminder, the district will host two community meetings next week: one in-person and one virtual. Superintendent Leach will share more context, describe the initial process and timeline, invite your questions, concerns, and suggestions, and use your input to help shape the process that will be presented to the Board on December 10.

Location: TIDE Academy Cafeteria, 150 Jefferson Dr, Menlo Park, CA 94025

Food Deliveries to Students
As a reminder, at TIDE Academy, all students have access to breakfast and lunch through the TIDE dining program. Additionally, vending machines with suitable snacks are available during lunch. There is no eating or drinking in classrooms, except for water bottles. If a planned activity involving food is scheduled for a particular class, the teacher will provide guidelines for preparing and consuming the food.
DoorDash, Uber Eats, or any other food delivery service is prohibited for students at TIDE Academy. If food is delivered by any food delivery service, we will refuse it. If parents drop off lunch for their student, it must be brought to the main office before the student's scheduled lunch and is intended only for that student, not for a group of students. This applies to after-school meetings or any school-sponsored activity. Any food delivered for these events must be arranged by the adult in charge.
